Narendra Modi’s visit to UAE and Bahrain
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 23-24 August 2019 and Bahrain on 24-25 August 2019. The visit by the Indian Prime Minister marks the first visit to the UAE and the West Asian region after coming back to power for a second term in May 2019. Modi, during the last term, had visited UAE on two occasions, i.e. in August 2015 and in February 2018. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had visited India in February 2016.

Pakistan: Developing Narrative
Since the 05 August 2019 revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), several strands have emerged in the developing Pakistani narrative that Prime Minister Imran Khan is spearheading. In this, the entire government machinery and especially ministers like Fawad Chaudhury(S&T) and Shireen Mazari (Human Rights), as also diplomatsand former army officers are supporting him. These strands need to be noted to understand the unfolding Pakistani game plan.
Constitutional Amendment - Responses from West Asia
Responses of individual West Asian States on India’s decision to annul to revoke Article 370 and Article 35A has been multi-faceted and mostly focused on controlling the situation rather than any direct criticism for change in India’s policy. Saudi Arabia, on 8 August 2019, appealed to all concerned parties in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace and stability and undertake measures to incorporate the interests of the people in the region. Saudi Arabia called for a peaceful settlement in accordance with international resolutions.1
