Guidelines For Contributors

The VIF is an organisation committed to promote India’s strategic, economic and political interests. Towards that end we would welcome articles/ monographs/books that support these themes and further India’s national interests. Accordingly, the VIF invites Articles/Monographs on the following topics:-
- India’s National Security (aspects of External and Internal Security) and Strategy.
- International/global strategic issues.
- India’s Foreign Policy Challenges.
- Political, Military, economic and Security related developments in India’s neighborhood.
- Issues of Governance and Political, constitutional and administrative reforms
- India’s Economic Challenges/ development policies.
- Studies in Indian History and Civilisational Issues.
All submissions should be sent electronically as attached word documents to [email protected].
Submissions must be original and not published elsewhere.

- Whether author would like to include his/her e mail id along with the article.
We invite contributions in three formats:-
- Articles of about 3000-6000 words on any of the topics listed above. The stress must be on factual accuracy and objective analysis/insights.
- Occasional Papers of length varying from 5000-15,000 words that add value and worth to the debate on certain specific issues or highlight a new dimension/perspective. They are theme based with adequate amount of primary/secondary research having been done on the subject. The issues discussed may not be necessarily topical and they should be accompanied by adequate amount of research (foot/end) notes/references/bibliography. A brief bio-data of the author along with a passport size photograph in jpeg format (high resolution 300 dpi) should be sent along with the paper.
- Monographs of between 15,000-20,000 words that deal with such issues in a more exhaustive and well researched format. Before sending us the final Monograph however, we would request the authors to send us an Abstract of about 300 words, outlining the salient issues proposed to be covered.
- Books ranging in length from 80,000-1,00,000 words. These should be exhaustively researched and seek to provide in depth analysis and insights into the issues of contemporary / strategic interests that have been listed above.
The decision to carry the Article /Monograph/book shall rest with the editorial board of the VIF. Copyright will vest with the VIF and we reserve the right to make use of the material in any form deemed suitable.
The authors will be suitably compensated through honorariums.
We will update you on the status of your contribution within five to seven working days.
Books. VIF would also invite authors to submit proposals for books on the above listed themes. A synopsis of the book along with a list of proposed chapters should be sent. The author would then be invited to make a presentation on the theme. Once approved, the author would be given the schedule of periodic presentations on the progress of the work. Author would make a presentation on the final draft of the book which would be peer reviewed by experts in the field. VIF would pay an honorarium for the book depending upon its merit. The work shall be owned exclusively by VIF and all rights, title and interest shall vest solely with VIF.
