Dr Navratna S Rajaram, the Boston-based Indian mathematician with a keen interest in ancient Indian history, delivered a talk on ‘Towards a New Historiography for Ancient India’ at the VIF on February 21, 2014.

Debunking the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) in toto, he said Indians have lived in the sub-continent for 50,000 years and described the Harappan Civilization as the “twilight” of the Vedic age.

Asserting that the Harappan architecture and literature were replete with Vedic symbols such as Svasti, he lamented that the newly established theories such as the African origin of mankind, the collapse of AIT and the impact of Toba explosion did not find reflection in Indian text books and history curriculum.

Amb Prabhat P Shukla, Joint Director, VIF, noted academic Prof Bhagwan Singh and Prof Makkhan Lal, Senior Fellow, VIF also spoke on the occasion.
