Vimarsh on “India’s G20 Presidency: Forging Actionable Agenda for Global South”

The Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) in collaboration with the India Writes Network/Centre for Global India Insights organized a Vimarsh panel discussion on “India’s G20 Presidency: Forging Actionable Agenda for Global South” on 24 February 2023. The panel discussion was aimed at identifying and exploring concrete South-centric initiatives which India can introduce and advance in the G20 agenda.

Vimarsh on Water Security in India

On 7th February, 2023 Vivekananda International Foundation organized a Vimarsh, a monthly talk series, on “Water Security in India”. Shri Bharat Lal, Director General, National Centre for Good Governance, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, Government of India (GOI) was the guest speaker for the event. Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director of VIF, delivered the opening and welcome remarks and he also chaired the proceedings.

Vimarsh on Technological Aspects of Indian Strategy by Shri Sridhar Vembu, Founder & CEO, Zoho Corporation, India

In the contemporary Information age, technology has become an integral and ever-present part of every nation’s society. Technology has empowered citizens in various ways, including ease of access to technology and States’ economic sectors benefit through businesses in digital space. It is the era in which technology can be utilised as a strategic tool for the nation to turn the wheels of growth while protecting its sovereign interests.

Vimarsh on Food and Nutrition Security- Key to National Security, Staying in Course

On 28th July, 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation organized a Vimarsh on “Food and Nutrition Security-Key to National Security, Staying in Course”. Opening and welcome remarks were made by Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, during which he introduced the speaker and gave his brief point of view on the subject. In his introductory address, Dr Gupta welcomed Mr Bishow Parajuli, Representative of the United Nations World Food Programme and also the Country Director to India.

Vimarsh on China Challenge in the Wake of the Ukraine Crisis

On 21 June 2022, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Vimarsh on the “China Challenge in the Wake of the Ukraine Crisis”. Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, gave out introductory remarks and welcomed the speaker Amb Ashok K Kantha, IFS (Retd), Director, Institute of Chinese Studies, Former Ambassador to China, who focussed on China Challenge from an Indian Perspective and India- China bilateral relations.

Vimarsh on Russia-Ukraine Crisis

On 14 March, 2022, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Vimarsh on the “Russia-Ukraine Crisis”. The session encompassed a series of introductory remarks by Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, and a talk on the stated theme by Ambassador D. Bala Venkatesh Varma (India’s former Ambassador to the Russian Federation) who focussed especially on the strategic trends and the impact of this ongoing crisis on the world in all the strategic dimensions.

On the ninth of February, 2022, the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organised a Vimarsh on the “Earth Sciences and their Importance for the Nation's Well-being”. The session encompassed a series of introductory remarks by Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, and a presentation on the stated theme by Dr Shailesh Nayak- Director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies and Distinguished Scientist from the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Vimarsh on Strategic Developments in the Indo-Pacific

On 17th January, 2021 the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), hosted Ambassador Anil Wadhwa, a retired diplomat and Distinguished Fellow at the VIF, to deliver a talk on the “Strategic Developments in the Indo-Pacific” as a part of its Vimarsh Dialogue Series.

Vimarsh - Book Discussion on “The Kashmir Conundrum: The Quest for Peace in a Troubled Land”

The Vivekananda International Foundation organised a Vimarsh dialogue in the shape of a book discussion on “The Kashmir Conundrum: The Quest for Peace in a Troubled Land,” authored by General NC Vij, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, on the 27th of December 2021. The event was chaired by Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF. The book discussion was followed by comments by an eminent panel consisting of Amb. Satish Chandra, Former Deputy National Security Advisor & Vice Chairman, VIF along with Lt Gen S A Hasnain, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM (Bar), Former GOC 15 Corps.

Climate Change and India’s Energy Choices

On 22nd November, Vivekananda International Foundation organized a Vimarsh on ‘Climate Change and India’s Energy Choices’ by Ambassador Dinkar Srivastava, IFS (Retd)- Former Ambassador of Iran, Czech Republic and Libya & Distinguished Fellow, VIF. Introductory remarks were given by Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF, in which he introduced the speaker and gave his brief point of view on COP26.
