Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) held a number of discussions during the month. Geopolitical tensions and technological competition are affecting US-China economic engagement. Factors influencing economic dynamics include sanctions, export controls, and supply chain adjustments have consequently come to international relevance since they affect countries around the globe including India. These issues along with the impact of US-China economic competition on India and the Indo-Pacific region were deliberated in the US Expert Group.

Report on Medical Value Travel (MVT) Paradigm Shift

India is currently ranked as the fifth most attractive and favorite destination for Medical Value Tourism (MVT) as per a popular MVT tracking website. Patients from all over the world come to India for various kinds of treatment. A majority of them are from Nigeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Iran, besides other African countries. As per Invest India, a national investment promotion and facilitation agency, MVT patients increased from 1.83 lakh in 2020 to 3.04 Lakh in 2021 and the current MVT market is valued at $5–6 billion, and expected to be $13 billion by 2026.

Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) held meetings on a variety of subjects in the month of July 2023 with six expert groups, a trilateral dialogue, an inter-think tank dialogue and a roundtable.

Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: May 2023

Vivekananda International Foundation held meetings on a diversity of topics in the month of May2023 with five expert group meetings and one round table discussion. The month saw the first meeting of the new formed expert group on defence, the other areas in focus in the month were Quad Plus dialogue, Japan and the Indo-Pacific, Pakistan, Africa and Climate change, in which developments and perspectives were shared and discussed.

India-Africa Partnership: Achievements, Challenges and Roadmap 2030

The India-Africa partnership has recorded considerable progress in recent years but realizing its full potential needs serious introspection and an objective appraisal. Armed with this conviction, the Vivekananda International Foundation’s Africa Expert Group undertook a comprehensive study of various aspects of the two geographies amidst quickly evolving international dynamics. While African countries continue to go through political, diplomatic, security and socio-economic transitions, their population, economic potential and political influence in world affairs is set to increase.

Vivekananda International Foundation was in full flow in the month of February 2023 with ten expert groups meeting. The areas of interest geographically were Africa, West Asia, US, Pakistan, Indo-Pacific, Neighbourhood, Central Asia and three key topics under Strategy and Geo-economics in which developments and perspectives were shared and discussed.

Vivekananda International Foundation commenced 2023 with renewed vigour in which seven expert groups met and two of which had interactions with ambassadors from Singapore and Italy. The areas of interest were China, Iran, US, Pakistan, Indo-Pacific, Europe and Climate Change in which key developments and perspectives were discusses and debated.

In the month of December 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of four expert group meetings with the first meeting of the newly formed Eurasia experts group. The focus of the groups in December being in the neighbourhood, West Asia and Central Asia.
