Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: January 2023

Vivekananda International Foundation commenced 2023 with renewed vigour in which seven expert groups met and two of which had interactions with ambassadors from Singapore and Italy. The areas of interest were China, Iran, US, Pakistan, Indo-Pacific, Europe and Climate Change in which key developments and perspectives were discusses and debated.

In the month of December 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of four expert group meetings with the first meeting of the newly formed Eurasia experts group. The focus of the groups in December being in the neighbourhood, West Asia and Central Asia.

In the month of November 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of seven expert group meetings, two interactive sessions with Ambassador’s from Indonesia and Germany in which they shared their perspective of our bilateral relationship as well as the prevalent geo-political situation. In addition there was a roundtable discussions with the Korean National Diplomatic Academy.

The month saw the commencement of a new expert group on Geo-Economics in which the first discussions was on India and the neighbourhood.

In the month of June 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized two expert group, one think tank and one eminent person interaction with most of them being hybrid. The restricted interactions of the other expert groups were due to scheduling commitments of experts. The keenly awaited Quad Plus group meeting was held in the month along with West Asia group. In addition, after a long hiatus, a roundtable with the Chinese think tank on environmental issues was organised.

In the month of May 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized five expert group interactions and one think tank interaction with most of them being hybrid. The dominant theme in most of the interactions was the Ukraine-Russia conflict and its implications on various parts of the world. The other expert groups covered the relevant topics i.e. Pakistan’s political scene, the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Europe and US in West Asia with their ramifications. This edition contains views USA, Europe, Pakistan, China, Taiwan, Indo-Pacific and West Asia and their impact on India.
