No new developments in Doklam, status quo prevails: Government

There have been no new developments at the site of the face-off with China in Doklam and its vicinity, and status quo prevails in the area, Minister of State for External Affairs Ministry V K Singh said today.

"Since the disengagement of Indian and Chinese border personnel in the Doklam area on August 28, 2017, there have been no new developments at the faceoff site and its vicinity. The status quo prevails in this area," Singh said in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on whether China has constructed new roads in the southern part of the Doklam Plateau. About 2 lakh jobs lost due dumping of Chinese solar panel, says Parliament Panel

Dumping of Chinese solar panels in India, once a major exporter of the product, is estimated to have cost 2 lakh jobs, a parliamentary panel said today and asked the commerce department to properly implement its probing arm DGAD’s suggestions on cheap imports from China. Expressing shock at the job loss estimates it quoted, the panel strongly recommended resolution of problem of poor implementation of the findings of the Directorate General of Antidumping and Allied Duties on dumping of Chinese goods as also subsidies they get.Click here to read... BRICS stand up for multilateral trading system under WTO

Leaders of the five BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa—on Thursday exhorted countries to abide by the rules and commitments of the multilateral trading system under the World Trade Organization (WTO) in the wake of unilateral tariff hikes imposed by US President Donald Trump, which has kick-started a trade war.

In their joint declaration at the 10th BRICS Summit at Johannesburg, leaders of the five countries said the multilateral trading system is facing “unprecedented challenges” and urged countries to keep the world economy open so that the benefits of globalization can be shared by all countries and people. Extremist and banned groups, including Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-backed Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek, have failed miserably in Pakistan’s General Election despite their massive campaign. WB Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill passed; CM kept out in public

The West Bengal Assembly today passed the Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2018, keeping the chief minister out of its purview in matters relating to public order. The Bill, however, allows the Lokayukta to investigate into matters relating to the chief minister on the other 58 subjects under the State List, with the approval of two-third of the members of the assembly present and voting.Click here to read...
