Ex-Pakistani diplomat, two others on NIA ‘wanted list’ for conspiring to launch 26/11-type attacks: Report

In the first such incident ever, India’s National Investigative Agency (NIA) has put a former Pakistani diplomat on its ‘wanted list’ and released a photo seeking information about him. The official has been identified as Amir Zubair Siddique who was posted as visa counsellor at Pakistan’s High Commission in Colombo. According to the NIA, Amir was involved in conspiring to launch 26/11 type terror attacks at US and Israel consulates in India and is also alleged to have conspired to target defence installations in southern India in 2014 by hiring Sri Lankan nationals, ANI reported. Pak plans permanent ban on JuD, other groups

The Pakistan government is working on a draft bill to permanently ban Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud Dawa as well as other groups and individuals on the watch list of the interior Ministry. The Bill will replace the presidential ordinance that banned outfits and people already on the watch list of the interior Ministry. Citing its sources in the law ministry, Dawn reported that the proposed draft bill to amend the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997 was likely to be tabled in the upcoming session of the National Assembly scheduled to commence on Monday. Pakistan President promulgates ordinances to implement economic reforms

Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain has issued four ordinances to implement economic reforms which seek to increase the tax base and help people declare their hidden assets at home and abroad. The ordinances, promulgated on Sunday, include Voluntary Declaration of Domestic Assets Ordinance 2018, Foreign Assets (Declaration and Repatriation) Ordinance 2018, Income Tax (amendment) Ordinance 2018, and Economic Reforms (amendment) Ordinance 2018. CPEC being extended to Afghanistan, says report

The controversial China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the flagship project of China's ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is being extended to Afghanistan, a study report said on Sunday.
The BRI has injected "fresh vitality" to Asia's economic cooperation and helped the continent to reshape its international relations, said the Asian Competitiveness Annual Report 2018 released here on the sidelines of China's Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference. Click here to read... [5]
PLA unveils new border defense equipment

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has strengthened its power and management in border defense by developing new types of equipment that can be used in all environments, including those with extremes of temperature and topography. A satellite early-warning monitoring system is planned in some border areas that are in dispute or are difficult to enter and to patrol, the Beijing Evening News reported Sunday. A surveillance camera network has also been built in border zones, and the density of coverage is set to increase to cover blind spots, although the report did not mention which, or if all, of China's border regions are covered. Bangladesh is ‘happy’ over India’s position on the Rohingya refugee issue and its progress on the pending Teesta water sharing deal, Foreign Secretary Md Shahdiul Haque says after a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Vijay Gokhale in Dhaka. Defence, home ministry websites hit by outage, cyber security chief Gulshan Rai says not hacking

Over a dozen official websites including those of defence and home ministries were hit by an outage which was blamed on hacking but the national cyber security chief maintained it was caused by a technical glitch. Officials said tonight that efforts were underway to fix the affected sites. The National Coordinator of Cyber Security Gulshan Rai said a hardware failure was detected after some of the prominent Government websites that were hosted on the servers of National Informatics Centre(NIC) went down displaying an error message to visitors. The statement from Rai contradicts a tweet by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who had earlier claimed it to be a hacking incident. Click here to read... [8]
