Online Workshop on India's strategic & National Security Issues for University Students/Youth/ Scholars/ Young Professionals

The VIF organised a series of lectures on India’s national security and strategic culture as a part of the workshop for students/youth/scholars/professionals from 25 to 27 Feb 2021. The aims of the workshop was to give a chance to young students, researchers and professionals from other disciplines to learn the necessary conceptual frameworks and promote Indian precepts and concepts as well as methods of analysis to conduct advanced historical and theoretical research in the field of strategic and security studies.

Workshop for Diplomats March 24-26 2021

Based on positive feedback from the foreign diplomats posted in India during the workshop held for diplomats in Feb 2020, VIF organised a third work shop on “Introduction to India’s Strategic Thinking” from 24 to 26 March 2021 in a virtual mode. The workshop was an endeavour to introduce foreign diplomats to the conceptual frameworks and thought processes, especially in the light of India’s cultural moorings and traditions that go into crafting of foreign and security policies. As the workshop was held during Covid-19 pandemic times it was held in virtual mode.

Introduction to India’s Strategic Thinking and its Determinants

The VIF organized the third series of lectures on India’s national security and strategic culture from 12 to 14 October 2020 in a virtual mode in continuation of the initiative taken in the previous year. The webinar enabled young students, academicians, researchers and professionals from other disciplines to learn the necessary conceptual frameworks and methods of analysis to conduct advanced historical and theoretical research in the field of strategic studies. Shri Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir released ‘Forgotten Kashmir: The Other Side of the Line of Kashmir’ in a virtual event on 18th March 2021. The book has been published by Harper Collins. Its author Ambassador D.P. Srivastava is a Distinguished Fellow in the Vivekananda International Foundation. The book traces political, constitutional, and economic developments in POK. Based on Pakistani and international sources, it brings out that the people of the territory neither enjoy Azadi nor autonomy.

Webinar on "National Security and Media"

The VIF organized a webinar on " India's National Security and Media" on 22 February 2021. Dr Arvind Gupta, Director VIF in his opening remarks highlighted the important role media plays in how a national security issue is projected, presented, and interpreted by the domestic and international audience at large. He also emphasized the need for more training for spokespersons, better coordination between the government and media, and role of think tanks to build vital narratives quickly in the current era of hyper information.
