SC awards Rs 50 lakh to ISRO ex-scientist wrongly framed in 1994 spy scandal

The Supreme Court on Friday awarded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to former ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan whose life got ruined after he was falsely implicated in the 1994 ISRO spy scandal. The Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra--which had reserved its verdict on July 10 on his petition seeking action against former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews and other police officers who allegedly falsely implicated him in the case--set up a three-member panel to probe the allegations. US reviewing India's Chabahar port development, says US official

The Trump administration, which is determined to impose fresh set of sanctions on Iran and countries and entities engaged in business with Tehran, is currently reviewing India's development of the strategically important Chabahar port in the Islamic Republic, a senior government official has said.

"We are reviewing (Chabahar project) in the context, in particular of Afghanistan, and in the spirit that the idea of our sanctions are not to punish partners or to imperil partners, but to bring a price tag for Iran's malign behaviour," Alice Wells, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, told a Washington audience.Click here to read.... China installing QR codes on Uyghur Muslim homes as part of mass security crackdown

China is installing QR codes on the homes of the Uyghur Muslim community in order to get instant access to the personal details of people living there, according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW). The development comes as part of a mass security crackdown on minorities in Xinjiang province, the charity said, which includes arbitrary detentions, daily restrictions on religious practice and “forced political indoctrination”. ISI world’s best intel agency, 'our first line of defence’: Pak PM Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has described the ISI as "our first line of defence" as he visited for the first time the headquarters of the powerful spy agency. SC licenses Jamat-ud-Dawa to continue welfare activities

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has rejected the appeal of federal government to restrain Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) chief Hafiz Saeed from his social welfare activites. NIA: Maoists bury money in forests, invest in reality

When it comes to stashing large caches of cash, Maoists prefer traditional methods, wrapping currency wads in layers of polythene, placing the hoards in metal boxes and concealing them in pits in remote forest areas, a National Investigative Agency (NIA) probe has revealed.

A six-month long NIA investigation has thrown up details of Maoist funding operations in 90-odd districts affected by violent Left wing extremism with the agency also tracking investments in real estate, bullion and business and money even being spent on education of children of top leaders.
