In this episode of VIF Podcast, PK Khup Hangzo, Associate Fellow and Heena Samant, Research Associate discusses the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) fourth and final instalment of its sixth assessment report (AR6) titled Synthesis Report: Climate Change 2023 that was released on 20 March 2023. The IPCC’s assessment reports are published about every seven years and the AR6 is effectively the last such report while it is still feasible – only marginally – to stay within 1.5°C. Beyond this, it also discusses India’s G20 presidency in 2023 and what it means for global climate action and what can be expected from the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) that will be held in Dubai, the UAE from 30 November–12 December 2023.
