Myanmar: Post Elections Scenario and its Implications
Myanmar elections that concluded on 10th of November have resulted in a very convincing victory for Aung Sann Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) party. The NLD increased its tally in the number of parliamentary seats in both the houses to 396 (258 in the Lower House and 138 in the Upper House) as compared to 390 won in the November 2015 elections while its main rival the military sponsored Union Solidarity Development Party (USDP) was not able to retain the number of seats held earlier.
Russia-China Harmony: One Sided Compromise under Compulsion?
“Russia may face wars on its borders in the near future over control of energy resources”, a Security Policy document released by Kremlin on May 13, 2009 stated. It went on to add “In a competition for resources, problems that involve the use of military force cannot be excluded that would destroy the balance of forces close to the borders of the Russian Federation and her allies.”

Rudram -1: A Step Forward on the Road to Self-reliance
These are indeed exciting times. Seven indigenous weapon systems tested in a time-run of just ten weeks; Shaurya hypersonic missile, BrahMos Extended Range (ER) missile, Prithvi nuclear capable missile, Hypersonic Technology Demonstration Vehicle (HSTDV), Supersonic Missile Assisted Release Torpedo (SMART) weapon system, Nirbhay sub-sonic cruise missile and Rudram -1 Anti-Radiation Missile (ARM). The last mentioned is a real capability-enhancer which not only stands at par with its peers in the world, but also pips them in several operational parameters1.
Deception, Denial, Distortion and Disinformation (D4) by China
Deception is practiced by lizards, chameleons and storks for escaping danger or survival. Humans employ deception to create confusion, gain surprise, take advantage and secure victory. Examples abound in the Mahabharat; other examples are Trojan War, Alexander crossing the Indus at night, Zimmerman telegram, et al. Deception as a tool either conceals or enhances two vectors of a meaningful threat analysis – capabilities and intentions.
