Replied by Dr Sreeradha Datta:

While India has always been a source of inspiration and aspiration for its technical and medical universities, its liberal arts program is also rich and many Indians from this stream have been recognised for their contributions to various aspects, in India and outside. While it may be argued that there is much more to be done to bring back the glorious days of Nalanda and Takshila Universities, it needs to be accepted India needs to invest more in research and ensure greater excellence to its higher education. Indian liberal art education has also received falr amount of students from the neighbourhood and is well respected abroad too.
