Monthly Compilation of Views of VIF Expert Groups: May 2023

Vivekananda International Foundation held meetings on a diversity of topics in the month of May2023 with five expert group meetings and one round table discussion. The month saw the first meeting of the new formed expert group on defence, the other areas in focus in the month were Quad Plus dialogue, Japan and the Indo-Pacific, Pakistan, Africa and Climate change, in which developments and perspectives were shared and discussed.

India-Africa Partnership: Achievements, Challenges and Roadmap 2030

The India-Africa partnership has recorded considerable progress in recent years but realizing its full potential needs serious introspection and an objective appraisal. Armed with this conviction, the Vivekananda International Foundation’s Africa Expert Group undertook a comprehensive study of various aspects of the two geographies amidst quickly evolving international dynamics. While African countries continue to go through political, diplomatic, security and socio-economic transitions, their population, economic potential and political influence in world affairs is set to increase.

Vivekananda International Foundation was in full flow in the month of February 2023 with ten expert groups meeting. The areas of interest geographically were Africa, West Asia, US, Pakistan, Indo-Pacific, Neighbourhood, Central Asia and three key topics under Strategy and Geo-economics in which developments and perspectives were shared and discussed.

Vivekananda International Foundation commenced 2023 with renewed vigour in which seven expert groups met and two of which had interactions with ambassadors from Singapore and Italy. The areas of interest were China, Iran, US, Pakistan, Indo-Pacific, Europe and Climate Change in which key developments and perspectives were discusses and debated.

In the month of December 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of four expert group meetings with the first meeting of the newly formed Eurasia experts group. The focus of the groups in December being in the neighbourhood, West Asia and Central Asia.

The concern for climate change has spurred an intense debate on energy transition to a low carbon economy. Climate change is an existential problem facing humanity. While the developed world has contributed most to global warming, its consequences will be felt by all countries. The worst affected will be those least equipped to deal with it. Vivekananda International Foundation has undertaken a study of energy choices available to India keeping in mind our development perspective.

In the month of November 2022 Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) organized a total of seven expert group meetings, two interactive sessions with Ambassador’s from Indonesia and Germany in which they shared their perspective of our bilateral relationship as well as the prevalent geo-political situation. In addition there was a roundtable discussions with the Korean National Diplomatic Academy.
