According to Iranian officials, trade between the two countries exceeds $3 billion annually. This would make Afghanistan Iran’s second largest economic partner after Iraq. The CEO of the Dogharoun Free Trade-Industrial Zone emphasized that Iranian export goods reach Afghanistan’s 40-million-person market through the region's border crossing. Govt. vows to resolve toll fee issue along Indian highways within two months – Kuensel

The government has pledged to resolve the long-standing issue of double toll fee imposed on Bhutanese vehicles traveling through the Indian highways in Assam and West Bengal within the next two months. This assurance was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MoFAET) DN Dhungyel during the National Assembly’s Question and Hour session yesterday while responding to concerns raised by Member of Parliament (MP) for Radhi–Sakteng, Tashi Tenzin. “This issue is placing a financial burden on Bhutanese traders and transporters who frequently use Indian highways for cross-border travel,” MP Tashi Tenzin said. He said that between 3,000 and 4,000 Bhutanese vehicles use the highways in Assam and West Bengal regularly, where they are charged tolls at multiple points, often twice for the same stretch. India Acknowledges Role in Strengthening Maldives’ Foreign Reserves – PSM News

India has expressed satisfaction over the increase in the Maldives’ foreign currency reserves, crediting it in part to the currency swap facility extended by India to overcome the Maldives’ foreign exchange crisis. The currency swap facility was provided by India in October last year. On the Maldives maintaining its CC credit rating on global credit rating firm, Fitch Ratings, the Indian High Commission in the Maldives, in a post published on social media platform X, said India is pleased that the foreign exchange reserves increase in the Maldives was driven by a USD 400 million drawdown under a currency swap agreement between the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority, and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The government has received over MVR 16 billion in revenue and grants thus far this year. According to the Finance Ministry's Weekly Fiscal Development Report, the government received MVR 16.7 billion in revenue and grants as of the 5 June. This is an increase of six percent compared to the same period last year. During this period, the government received MVR 13 billion in tax revenue, accounting for 78 percent of total revenue. Sagaing Region resistance groups have warned of an increased risk of regime airstrikes after a junta jet was shot down on Tuesday. The jet crashed at Sapar Sae village in Pale Township near the Pale-Gangaw road. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) claimed responsibility for shooting down the jet, the first to be shot down by an ethnically Bamar armed group since the 2021 coup. Resistance forces capture 23 Myanmar junta troops near Magway-Rakhine border – Myanmar Now

An anti-regime armed group said it took at least 23 junta soldiers prisoner in Magway Region’s Ngape Township this week amid intense clashes in the area. A representative of the Chin Defence Force-Asho (CDF-Asho) told Myanmar Now on Friday that the group captured the troops as they were fleeing from the junta’s last remaining hilltop base along the border between Magway Region and Rakhine State. “All were newly conscripted soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion 113 and 420 bases,” the CDF-Asho representative said. “Although fighting does not occur every day, clashes have remained intense in the area,” he added. Hundreds of Myanmar families were being uprooted from their homes on Saturday (June 14, 2025), a community organiser said, piling their belongings onto evacuation convoys to escape fighting between the military and anti-coup guerrillas. Govt hikes petrol price by Rs4.80, diesel by Rs7.95-Dawn

The Finance Division on Sunday night notified hefty increases in the prices of both petrol and diesel, with the rates climbing by Rs4.80 and Rs7.95 per litre, respectively. According to a notification seen by Dawn.com, the finance division stated that the new prices had been determined “based on the recommendations of Ogra (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) and the relevant ministries”. From June 16, high-speed diesel (HSD), which previously cost Rs254.64 per litre, will now be sold for Rs262.59. Similarly, petrol, which cost Rs253.63 per litre, will now be available for Rs258.43.
