The British newspaper Daily Mail has reported that the Taliban have significantly advanced their drone development capabilities by utilizing imported high-tech components and sophisticated systems. According to the report published on June 7, the Taliban procure most of the electronic and mechanical components for their drones through global black markets and smuggling networks. The Guardian reported that Kabul could become the first modern city in the world to completely run out of water. Citing a report by the Mercy Corps organization, the Guardian wrote that due to rapid urbanization and climate change, Kabul’s underground water levels have dropped by 30 meters over the past decade. Fighting has approached Nawnghkio town under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, as the Myanmar regime wages an offensive to retake resistance-held northern Shan State despite its declared ceasefire. Nawnghkio is strategically located on the main Mandalay-Lashio-Muse trade route linking Myanmar and China and is a gateway to northern Shan State, where most townships are now under the control of anti-regime revolutionary groups. Myanmar authorities have arrested 16 people including a six-year-old girl over the assassination of a retired general shot dead in Yangon last month, state media said. Cho Tun Aung, a former ambassador to Cambodia, was gunned down outside his home on May 22 in an attack claimed by an anti-junta group calling itself the "Golden Valley Warriors".
