Senior journalist Matiullah Jan was released in the late hours of Tuesday after a widespread outcry over his abduction by nearly half a dozen plainclothes and uniformed men from outside a government school in broad daylight in the federal capital. The ‘forced abduction’, which was caught on CCTV cameras, not only enraged journalist community and rights organisations but also triggered serious security concerns among legal fraternity, political parties and diplomatic circles. Teen Girl Kills 2 Taliban in Ghor, Under Police Protection: TOLO News
Qamar Gul, a 15-year-old, shot and killed two Taliban fighters after they dragged her parents from their home and killed them for allegedly supporting the government in the western province of Ghor, said local officials on Wednesday. The incident happened on July 16. A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has brought back 415 Bangladeshi nationals from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Biman spokesperson Tahera Khondoker confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday. Government decides to lift the four-month-long coronavirus lockdown, but with conditions: The Kathmandu Post
The government has announced an end of the nationwide lockdown that it had imposed starting March 24 to contain the spread of Covid-19. Minister for Finance and Communication Yubaraj Khatiwada, who is also the government spokesperson, told a press briefing that Monday's Cabinet meeting had decided to lift the lockdown effective from Tuesday midnight with a few restrictions such as a ban on large gatherings still in place.
