Opposition-ruled Senate rejects two FATF bills: DAWN

The 104-member Senate, where the opposition enjoys majority, on Tuesday rejected two FATF-related bills after Leader of the House Dr Shahzad Waseem refused to tender an apology for remarks that he made against the opposition leadership last week. The Anti-Money Laundering (Second Amendment) Bill and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Waqf Properties Bill, passed by the National Assembly a day before, were rejected through a voice vote after the opposition linked its cooperation to retraction of Mr Waseem’s remarks and an apology by him and the government side accused the opposition of trying to blackmail it. Taliban Meets Pakistani Officials in Islamabad: TOLO News

A six-member Taliban delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar met with Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and discussed recent progress in the Afghan peace process and the intra-Afghan negotiations, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Education Ministry forms committee to update private university law: Dhaka Tribune

The Ministry of Education has formed a three-member convening committee to update or review the law on private universities to expand and ensure quality education across the country. The Directorate of Secondary & Higher Education issued an order signed by Deputy Secretary ANM Tarikul Islam in this regard on Monday. Health workers say they reuse disposable masks as hospitals don’t provide enough: The Kathmandu Post

Dipendra Pandey, a doctor at the National Trauma Center in Kathmandu, has been using the same disposable mask for over a week. His hospital does not give him masks every day while he attends to patients. “I know that disposable masks cannot be reused or used even after washing, but I have no choice,” Pandey told the Post. “I had asked the hospital administration yesterday for masks, but they say they do not have any in stock.
