Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan who is on a three-day visit in Washington said that he will meet with the Taliban after returning to Islamabad and that he will get the group to the negotiation table with the Afghan government. “Taliban delegation wanted to meet me few months back… It is because I always maintained that there was no military solution [to the war in Afghanistan],” Khan said at the US Institute of Peace. Myanmar has made “minimal” preparations for the return of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslim refugees sheltering in neighboring Bangladesh, according to an Australian think-tank, despite the country saying it is ready to start repatriation. More than 700,000 Rohingya were forced to flee northern Rakhine state in western Myanmar during a 2017 military-led crackdown the United Nations has said included mass killings and gang-rapes executed with “genocidal intent”.
